Tourists can now visit Tirana with an open bus tour, as the Albanian capital is buzzing with tourists, almost every month of the calendar year. Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj has shared some of the photos of the new initiative that allows many tourists to take a tour of the main attractions in the capital.
“Who’s up for a ride? Now you can visit Tirana with OpenBus Albania. The newest bus which enables a tour around the city, for all local and foreign visitors who want to get to know the attractions, monuments and history of the city”, proclaimed Veliaj.
From 2015-2016, when Tirana was visited by no more than 100 thousand tourists, within 8 years their number reached 4.5 million. Quadrupling of the number of tourists has had a positive impact on the city’s economy.
Number of citizens who are employed in the tourism sector (hotels, services) has increased by 30,000 or in other words by over 2.3 times.
If before Tirana there was no international hotel brand in Tirana, currently the Albanian capital has names known all over the world.
