The head of the teachers’ union, Aleksandër Kovaci, has warned of the next protest of the pedagogues.
He said that the lecturers will hold a protest on Friday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m., for an increase in salary and the quality of higher education, where it will be decided in dialogue with the students about the continuation of the boycott and protests.
While he emphasized that they will not negotiate for salary increases and that the decision to boycott classes until October 17 is still in force.
“The student fee should be returned to the service for the interest of the students and not for the growth of the lecturers. We have set it, we want 30% growth this year and 20% next year. The level of salary increase is not even equal to indexation, it is unacceptable. We will gather at the protest on Friday, October 14, at 11:00.
Then we will make a decision by discussing with the students. We want a serious higher education. We negotiate time for 20%, but we don’t negotiate 30% because it was negotiated by 50%. About 5,000 employees are expected to benefit from the salary increase”, said the head of the pedagogues union, Aleksander Kovaçi.
