For two days, Tirana will be transformed into the European city of tourism. From April 7 to 9, Albania will host the 70th Meeting of the Commission for Europe of the World Tourism Organization, an event of historical importance not only for the field of tourism.
Ministers of Tourism and senior representatives of this sector from 40 European countries are expected to participate in this event. The focus of the discussions is expected to be investments in tourism and economic development in Europe.
The Minister of Tourism has described this organization as a very important event that marks one more step for the promotion of the country, the promotion of investments and economic growth through the tourism sector in Albania. Although we are in the first months of this year, the figures of foreign tourists show that this year is expected to be even better in terms of tourism.
In the first three months of this year, our country received over 1.7 million foreign tourists. In March alone, 734,000 foreign visitors were registered who enjoyed Albania, or 91% more than the same month last year.
Expectations of tourist operators but also of the institutions are that during the year 2024, Albania will host over 14 million foreign tourists, experiencing an increase of almost 40% compared to the previous year./abcnews.al
