The united opposition has requested the meeting of the political council, today at 18:00. With an email, the opposition reiterates their wilingness to continue the dialogue, “in order to move forward in a comprehensive process and a consensual product.”
According to the opposition, the proposal “to make unilateral constitutional changes a reality destroys the consensus, violates the agreements of January 14 and June 5 signed by the Socialist Party and has serious consequences for the stability, democracy and European integration of the country.” ”
In the email it is written that “any unilateral act, especially acts that directly affect elections, severely undermines the legitimacy of elections and the governments that emerge from them.”
The United Opposition presented this proposal at its meeting on July 28, 2020:
1. Stop the unilateral change of the constitution.
2. To work together, for the draft of a joint amendment that enables the openlist without any other additional changes.
3. To be detailed the rules in the Electoral Code, so that the constitutional amendment and the accompanying rules of the Electoral Code for openlist, as a single package for approval in Parliament./abcnews.al
