Today took place the trial of the former constitutional judge Fatos Lulo, who was charged with concealment and non-declaration of assets.
Journalist Ermal Vija told ABC News that through the defense lawyer, Lulo asked the court to suspend the process with the argument that he has addressed the Special Appeals Commission to review the decision to dismiss him from office.
The investigations for Lulo have started after the findings of the vetting which concluded that he hid an apartment with an area of 172 square meters on Durres Street.
Lulo requested this request from the Court, with the argument that Judge Luan Daci, who was found guilty of forgery, was part of the panel when he was dismissed from office.
According to him, because Daci was part of the jury, the decision against him should be reviewed.
The prosecution claimed that the investigations for the former judge Fatos Lulo were initially started with indicia and then the investigations showed that Lulo could not justify this wealth with the source of income.
For all this, the Prosecutor’s Office has asked the court that this request of Fatos Lulos be dismissed and not taken into account. On the other hand, the Court decided to postpone the process to May 3, the day when it is expected to express itself on the request of former judge Lulo.
