The case against former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri will continue the trial with the presidents of the body courts, Ilir Panda, and two members, Sokol Sadushi and Ervin Pupe.
This file was erroneously dropped in February along with 42 other cases because the same panel that is in the deliberation chamber to adjudicate in the High Court should continue the trial as well.
The wrongly drawn lot had selected Judge Sander Simoni as the chair of the hearing session. After the legal changes that came into force on June 1, the lot of the file of the former Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri and the former director of the Vlora Police has been canceled for all the files that were in trial.
Meanwhile, in the Supreme Court there is still no date when the trial for Tahiri and Cela will start. The latter one day ago asked the special court to extend the detention terms, since has passed more than a year since the decision of the Special Court of Appeals.
Jaeld Cela also demanded a change of the security measure from arrest to imprisonment to a facilitated security measures.
Saimir Tahiri and Jaeld Çela were found guilty of the criminal offense of “Abuse of Duty”. The former minister was sentenced to 3 years of probation while Jaeld Cela to 3 years and 4 months in prison./abcnews.al
