Today, the Assembly held a minute of silence for the premature separation from life of the former President of the Republic, Bujar Nishani.
“Dear colleagues, in honor of the former president Bujar Nishani, the former minister, our colleague in this parliament, I invite you to keep a minute of silence for his untimely departure from life. Let it be unforgettable! ”, Said the vice president Ermonela Felaj.
Former President Bujar Nishani passed away on Saturday at the age of 56. Nishani breathed his last in a hospital in Berlin, where he had been hospitalized for a month, after being sent for more specialized treatment for post Covid complications. His health deteriorated due to pronounced pulmonary insufficiency.
Nishani’s body is expected to arrive in Albania on Tuesday. The former president will be given all the last honors in a state ceremony.
Bujar Nishani was the 6th president of the Republic, of post-communist Albania. In his long political career, he was known for his caring language and prudence. Nishani was one of the most important figures of the Democratic Party.
He has held several important positions as deputy, minister and chairman of the National Council in the blue headquarters. In 2012, Nishani was elected president. While most recently he was a member of the Re-establishment Commission.
