The ambassador of Albania to Turkey, Kastriot Robo, in a Skype connection with ABC News, confirmed that so far no Albanians have been affected by the devastating earthquake, which left many dead and injured. He emphasized that Albania has send a rescue aid group towards Turkey and according to him there are 38 people.
“We are interested in Albanian citizens who may be in that area, but fortunately no Albanian citizens were affected by this devastating earthquake.
We have been in constant contact, both with representatives of the Albanians, but also with the Turkish authorities, and fortunately so far we have not found any Albanians or Turkish citizens of Albanian origin to have been affected by the earthquake.
We immediately made emergency numbers available. There has been interest in Albanian citizens and we are in contact. The most important is the government’s decision to help support search and rescue. 38 rescue forces are coming and this is a quick response,” he said.
The Albanian diplomat guaranteed that every complaint of the Albanian citizens will be treated with priority.
He said that emergency numbers are available and anyone can call to address their concern.
“We have open telephone lines, in the first moments communication was limited due to damage to the lines, while the Turkish government laid new lines to help people.
We are ready for any message and request that our citizens may have”, he said.
