Talat Xhaferi has been elected prime minister of North Macedonia. Xhaferi is the first Albanian politician to be elected to this post in North Macedonia. 65 MPs voted in favor of the technical government that will be led by Xhaferi. Meanwhile, 3 deputies voted against.

Present at the session were 11 deputies out of 120 in total in the Assembly of North Macedonia. After the vote, the technical government took the oath, while Xhaferi said that he will implement the constitution and the laws of the country.

The technical government of Xhaferi has the mandate to organize and conduct the parliamentary elections set for May 8.

Part of the technical government will also be the Macedonian opposition party, VMRO DPMNE, which will lead the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. In the technical executive, this party will also have three deputy prime ministers, with special powers. There will be no changes in other ministerial posts.

The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI), the Social Democratic League (LSDM) and the Alliance for Albanians will continue to lead the ministries they currently lead./abcnews.al
