The Deputy Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Nikola Dimitron, in the joint conference with the Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vuçi described as an important vision the initiative of the “Open Balkans”.

At the summit being held in Belgrade, Dimitrov Sustainable Balkans is a step towards fulfilling this vision. He also stressed the other countries in the region, emphasizing that inclusion is very important.

At the next meeting to be held in Tirana, the Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister said that they should declare victory in order to attract other countries that are not involved in this initiative.

“I think there is no doubt when you face the creation of problems and on the other hand you have the opportunity to create solutions. We in Macedonia are in a complex situation, however this initiative is important. The only long-term vision for a sustainable Balkans is when borders are less important or not important at all. The Open Balkans is therefore a step towards fulfilling this vision.

This initiative aims to build solidarity by developing, showing a common regional market, where there will be free movement of goods. Likewise help each other cope with natural disasters. The better we cooperate, the more they convince the EU that we are a region that produces solutions.

We have devised a specific plan to overcome these shortcomings of slow integration. We have shown political will to do so. In our meeting in Tirana we want to declare a series of victories including problem solving. The more victories we achieve together, the more attractive the initiative will be for other countries in the region. Inclusion is very important. In this way we will solve those other problems as well. Regional cooperation is not an alternative to EU integration, but serves integration. “We as countries have to act,” he said. / abcnews.al
