In his speech before the leaders of the EU and the Western Balkans at the first Berlin summit held in Tirana, the Albanian Prime Minister said that we must continue with inclusion in the EU, exploring new alternatives.

According to Rames, something like this would create a harmonious existence to create this union before Europe deteriorates from within.

“We must continue with inclusion in the EU.  We need to explore new alternatives, to create a harmonious existence and create this union before Europe deteriorates from within. It would be nice to have a union of 40 instead of 27 countries, but it is challenging to see at a time when events are ongoing.

But I simply ask, would it be more pragmatic for us to move our conversations towards the EU and not rush to create these, which may not agree, but may even contradict the principle of merit, so we will not it was right to introduce a status for full inclusion up to membership.

Such a status would give privileges, without the right to vote. This is how we would better understand common challenges and share responsibilities better,” said Rama, among other things.
