Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) will decide this Thursday the measure of arrest for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. Special Prosecution (SPAK) sent a request to the court to replace the mandatory security measure with house arrest.
Request was filed on Friday, and judge Irena Gjoka is expected to notify the person under investigation for corruption, Sali Berisha, as well as his lawyers.
Meanwhile, it is not known whether the lawyers of the former prime minister will appear at the hearing today at 10:00 a.m. to face the request of the prosecution or whether the defense will be provided by the state through a lawyer who will be appointed by the court.
Special prosecutors received authorization from the Assembly for the arrest of Berisha after the former prime minister refused three times in a row to implement the decision of judge Irena Gjoka, who ordered the presentation and blocking of his passport.
