Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has held this Thursday a session, where the judges heard the defense of the persons arrested in connection with the construction of the “incinerator of Elbasan”, including former Minister Lefter Koka and former Socialist MP, Alqi Blako.
Koka and Bllako were present today in SPAK, where they argued why they should be declared innocent.
They claim that they have not committed any violation of the law in relation to the construction of the “Elbasan incinerator” and have asked the Court to reject the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.
In the last session, the prosecutor Klodian Braho asked the Court for a sentence of 10 years of imprisonment for the former minister Koka, and in the application of the shortened trial, his final sentence of 6 years and 8 months in prison.
Even for Mr. Blako, he requested a sentence of 4 years in prison, and with the application of the shortened trial, the final sentence of 2.8 years of imprisonment.
According to SPAK, Lefter Koka in the capacity of the Minister of Environment has misused his office, committed corruption and money laundering, these are the 3 charges brought against him.
Alqi Bllako is charged with Abuse of Duty, as he allowed the construction of the “Elbasan incinerator” through his actions or inactions.
After hearing the defense, the Prosecutor’s Office is expected to withdraw for a decision.
