schedule 10:11 - 30 Maj, 2024

Today, the Assembly has included in its agenda the establishment of the Special Anticorruption Commission.

Although there is still no consensus between the parties, since the opposition has warned that it will not participate in this commission, it remains to be seen if the establishment of this Commission will be carried out today in the plenary session.

The Special Commission proposed by the Socialist Party will consist of 11 members. The majority will have six members in its representation, while the opposition will be represented by five people. In the draft decision, it is mentioned that the duration of this commission will be for ten months, but in case of need, the Assembly can decide to extend the term of the activity.

Albanian and foreign experts will be part of the working group for this structure, who will closely follow and monitor the works for each of the phases. More specifically, experts will be divided into groups and engaged in the function of relevant topics, related to the fields in which they are competent.

This Special Commission will organize hearings for the purpose of consultation, working tables and public discussions, focusing on the implementation of reforms, the rule of law and good governance. In the draft decision, which is expected to be approved in the future, an invitation has also been made to other non-parliamentary parties, which can be offered to give their contribution.

This initiative will serve the implementation of reforms and the fulfillment of international conditions for the integration process in the European Union./abcnews.al
