SPAK has officially launched the investigation into the January 21 murders. The Special Prosecutor’s Office announces that the proceedings have been registered for the criminal offenses “Murder in other qualifying circumstances”, “Abuse of duty”, and “Performing actions that prevent the discovery of the truth”, carried out in cooperation.

In the announcement it is stated that the initiation of the investigation was done by evaluating the conclusions of the decision of the Supreme Court, the report of the citizen Rajmonda Nika as well as the decision of the European Court of Justice. “In Rajmonda Nika’s report, it is reported that the persons who should be prosecuted are former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Lulzim Basha and the leader of the guard at that time, Ndrea Prendi, as the persons who ordered the murder. Also attached to the report is the decision of the European Court of Human Rights, which argued that there were some violations, avoiding some high-ranking officials of the time and leaders of the guard chain?

SPAK has also requested the file at the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana, noting that it will withdraw all documents from the file,” reported journalist Ermal Vija.

The investigations for January 21, 2011 start after the request of Aleks Nika’s family members in the Supreme Court. The family of the deceased has been seeking justice for the murder of their son for more than a decade.
