Interpol has informed the SPAK about the arrest by the Italian authorities of the former Chief Prosecutor Adriatik Llalla. According to the SPAK announcement, Llalla is expected to be extradited from Italy to continue with his sentencing proceedings in Albania. The Special Prosecution has forwarded to the Ministry of Justice the necessary documentation for the extradition of Adriatik Llalla from Italy to Albania.
Former Adriatic Attorney General Llalla was arrested on Friday in the Italian capital. Llalla has been internationally wanted by Interpol Tirana for two months after being sentenced to 2 years in prison on charges of hiding and not declaring assets. Sources from Interpol Tirana suggest that the former prosecutor appeared on Friday in the court of Rome in Italy where he held a hearing on a request for political asylum.
The same sources explain that, at the moment when the court was preparing to give the decision regarding the asylum application, it is informed that on behalf of Llalla there was a final decision by the special court of appeal in Albania that sentenced him. with two years imprisonment.
For this, the judicial body has decided to seize the passport of the former chief prosecutor, asking him not to move from Rome without giving a decision on the request for political asylum, leaving him free. The special prosecutor’s office is expected to address a request to the Italian authorities to extradite the former chief prosecutor to our country in the coming days to serve his prison sentence.
The investigation against Llalla was initially registered by the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office on charges of concealing assets, abuse of office and money laundering and “non-declaration of monetary amounts at the border”.
