The Law Commission has accepted the decrees of President Ilir Meta, rejecting the initiative taken by the Socialists for the vows of the members of the Constitutional Court in case of refusal by the head of state.
Advisor to the President, Bledar Dervishi also defended the decrees with the opinions of the Venice Commission, which assessed that the vow before the president could not be avoided, as it contradicts the Constitution.
Socialist MP Klotilda Ferhati said that according to the recommendation of the Venice Commission the unlocking mechanism should be more clear and established to the Constitution.
This led the Socialists to accept Meta’s two decrees, expressing their determination that in the future this unlocking mechanism should be done in the Constitution.
The amendment proposed by the Socialists provided that the vow to the members of the institutions should be made in writing to the notary and sent by mail to the President of the Republic.
If he did not decree within 10 days, the member will be automatically considered appointed. According to Venice, this mechanism can be done only through the Constitution./abcnews.al
