Director of Shkodra’s Regional Hospital, Senad Halluni, has reacted to the claims of the residents of the Roma community about the delay of the ambulance regarding the event of Tuesday evening, where a 60-year-old man lost his life and his wife was taken to the hospital after the barracks where stood caught fire.
Residents of the Roma community claimed that the ambulance and the fire brigade arrived late, but according to what the regional director of Shkodra stated, the ambulance immediately went to the scene about 7 minutes after receiving the notification given by the firefighters.
Furthermore, Halluni called on the citizens to call 127, the National Emergency number, when they have such events.
“The event happened around 22:45 and the notification from the National Emergency Coordination Center was at 22:46. Each phone call also leaves a trace in the tracking system, it is the firefighters who have notified the emergency system to be activated. At 22:46 until the arrival of the first ambulance, only 7 minutes were consumed and the firefighters were stopping the incident.
Practically, medical intervention has been impossible. About 7 minutes after the notification, the ambulance was at the scene. Considering the possibility of a bigger event, the second ambulance was also dispatched at 22:56. So about 10 minutes later, the first ambulance immediately transported the lady to plastic burn surgery.
Then the second ambulance arrived and was at the scene for about an hour until the body of the deceased was found. It is waiting for the transportation to be done and the third ambulance was also at the scene. According to the protocols, 5 to 10 minutes is the optimal time for arriving at the scene”, he said.
