Agim Çerma, arrested in Colombia as the leader of a powerful group that dealt with cocaine trafficking, is sentenced in Albania to life imprisonment for premeditated murder. The decision was taken by the Court of Elbasan in 1998 for the murder of Gezim Liçi and the wounding of police officers.

The event took place in 1997 in Elbasan, while at that time, together with Agim, his brother, Gazmend Çerma, was arrested, as well as several other people. Gazmend Çerma was sentenced to 11 years in prison by the Court of First Instance in Elbasan. He appealed the decision to the Durres Appeal, but his request was rejected.

In the complaint he transferred the responsibility to his brother Agim, arguing that he was unaware that his brother had a weapon with him and that he would commit the murder. Agim Çerma committed the same act, appealing the sentence of life. This request was rejected by the Durres Appeal and the High Court. While the Constitutional Court passed the First Instance in Elbasan for retrial.

The latter passed to the Court of Lezha, after Agim Çerma was serving his sentence in Shënkolli prison. Referring to the data generated by the system of this Court, Agim Çerma, in 2012 was released on parole in still unclear circumstances. ABC learns that his release bears the signature of Judge Parashqevi Ademi. In 2015, Ademi was arrested for corruption and abuse of office. While the former Serious Crimes Court sentenced him to 4 years in prison.

After leaving the cell, Agim Çerma left for European countries and then to Latin American countries where he was involved in international drug trafficking. ABC learns that in recent years, the Albanian police have sent information through letters to foreign authorities about Çermë, as in our country he was suspected of being involved in a criminal group dealing with drug trafficking./ abcnews.al
