Sejko: The economy will grow by 8% next year

At the hearing session of the Committee on Economy, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gnet Sejko, estimated that obtaining a Eurobond of 700 million euros was necessary. Responding to criticism from members of the opposition in the commission, Sejko stressed that if not taken, the government would head to the domestic market and this would create imbalances.

“The forecast has been above our expectations. The latest analysis has yielded a more positive figure, over 8%. I believe this year there will be an 8% increase. The forecast for the coming years is at the level of 4.1%. We have a more conservative forecast of 3.8%. In the medium term there will be economic growth around these figures. We believe that this increase is feasible if the reforms are done with the right seriousness. If structural reforms are taken correctly this economic growth is achievable.

For Eurobond, you also mentioned in the absence of this they would address the domestic market. It is necessary to meet these needs. If they are withdrawn from the domestic market it would create imbalances. Definitely getting into debt needs to be addressed. We believe that the Eurobond was necessary and should have been taken. “Regarding inflation, in practice the transmission of monetary policy in lending to domestic currency has been good,” he said. / abcnews.al
