Police have arrested this Tuesday Sotir Çabiri, the son of Spiro Çabiri, as the author of the explosion with explosives at the “Bizanti” hotel on Monday morning in Saranda.
In the police announcement, it is said that the 36-year-old is the person who planted the explosive substance in his father’s hotel, terrorizing the entire coastal city.
Reason for this serious event was the ongoing conflict that his father had with his partner Dhimitër Evangjeliu. After a long court process that had started since 2002, the court had decided that most of this hotel would be owned by Evangeli.
The clothes that were allegedly used by the perpetrator during the placement of the explosive substance, 3 mobile phones and other items that were found at the scene were also seized.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old is accused of the criminal offense “Destruction of property with explosives”, with serious material consequences.
As a result of the explosion, the hotel built in 1996 was completely destroyed and the facades of other nearby buildings were damaged.
Fortunately, there were no injuries from the explosion, but the procedural materials were sent to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Saranda Judicial District Court for further action.
