Rama to travel to Western Balkans for a series of high-level meetings

Prime Minister Edi Rama will visit te countries of the Western Balkans on July 6 and 7. Journalist Esiona Konomi reports that the visits of the head of the government will take place within the framework of the Berlin Process and the future of the “Open Balkans”, but it is expected that the north of Kosovo will also be discussed.

Rama will visit Pristina, Skopje, Podgorica, Belgrade and Sarajevo, where he will also hold meetings with the heads of state.

“It is an important tour, it will take place from 6-7. A two-day tour of the prime minister, who has decided to visit all five countries of the Western Balkans, using this as an opportunity to speak with all his counterparts and to discuss first the danger that the tension in north of Kosovo but also to make a transition from ‘Open Balkans’ to ‘Berlin Process’.

The Prime Minister has announced that there will soon be an end or there will be no further meetings of the ‘Open Balkans’ but only in the Berlin Process and the meeting with the leaders will be an opportunity for Rama to explain that now the ‘Open Balkans’ completed the mission,” reported the journalist.

The journalist reported that Rama will pay his first visit to Kosovo, where a meeting with his counterpart Albin Kurti is planned.

This meeting comes after public clashes and disagreements about the positions held by the two leaders, especially with the tensions that have occurred in the last few weeks in the north of Kosovo. The meeting also comes after the cancellation of the joint meeting between the two Albanian governments that was scheduled to be held in Gjakova.

After Pristina, Rama will travel to Belgrade to meet with President Aleksander Vucic and then continue with other meetings in the Balkan region.
