Prime Minister Edi Rama has covered the meeting with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Karen Donfried, who is on an official visit to Tirana.
In a post on his Facebook page, Rama writes that they discussed at length with the DASH official the progress of reforms, the strengthening of justice, the issue of integration and the Open Balkans. Also, the Prime Minister emphasizes that Donfried has expressed considerations for the role of Albania in the Security Council and in the region.
“With US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried.
We discussed at length the positive progress of the reforms, the strengthening of justice, the strategic investments in energy, and the veto of Bulgaria over Northern Macedonia, the situation in the region, as well as the full support that the United States gives to the Open Balkans.
“The Assistant / Secretary’s considerations for Albania’s role in the Security Council and in our region were impressive,” wrote Rama.
The Prime Minister has donated to the DASH official a textile bag with traditional Albanian motifs.
The senior US official also met today in the premises of the Presidency of the Assembly with Enkelejd Alibeaj, Gazment Bardhi and Jorida Tabaku. In a statement to the media, Alibeaj said he has gain support for a strong and stable pro-American opposition.
Donfried’s meeting with the representatives of the Democratic Party, who are on the American line, comes a day before the DP Assembly convened by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
