Prime Minister Edi Rama in the joint conference with the Ambassador of the European Union in Tirana commented on the Progress Report of the European Commission for Albania.
Rama said that the EC stressed once again that Albania has met all the conditions for the opening of negotiations.
“The EC report is submitted in a protocol manner in Albania as well as in all countries that are in the process by the highest representative of the delegation. I want to thank Ambassador Soreca. Sincerely for the hard and tireless work of the entire team of the EU delegation in Albania, a work that takes place daily without a schedule, away from public attention in a complex interaction with all ministries, agencies, departments, civil servants involved and that helps us in what makes this process a unique instrument for countries in the function of state building and unifying their entire legal and social whole with the EU.
This is an instrument that it offers in this world where we live only in the EU, for countries that are in an intermediate stage of transition from a certain stage, in our case it was called dictatorship to a functioning democracy. It is important to understand that beyond membership itself this is an internal process necessary to have here where we live a state that functions by all norms.
The report we receive today is another in a series of others now. Where the commission reaffirms its conviction that Albania has met all the conditions to formally start what was previously decided in the European Council and to take the membership discussion with the EU.
