Prime Minister Edi Rama declared this Wednesday that Albania needs luxury tourism, so that the income of ordinary people in the country can have a greater income.

In his speech during the presentation of the three finalist ideas of the International Competition of the Multifunctional Center and Information Stations for the Vjosa National Park, PM Rama said that Albania is in a phase of revising the protected areas.

“They cannot be created simply and only from that part of tourists who come with a bag on their arm, who are welcome, but must be combined with those tourists, high consumers of the world. Vjosa National Park is a very important school on how these can cooperate with each other. We need luxury tourism, we need it for ordinary people.

Through luxury tourism, ordinary people get more income, We are in the result of consideration of protected areas. The combination of these two is a must. Neither the fantasizing of one side to oppose everything, nor the need to touch everything in the name of development, should prevent us from finding a harmonious balance between the two.

Vjosa’s project will continue to guide us. Whoever will be in front of us, we will remind them of the Vjosa National Park. It is one of the biggest, boldest decisions for the future that a government could make. This decision is considered a really strong decision and I admire them for that. We are ready for this challenge, we are not alone, we have powerful allies like Patagonia.

I want to save the finalists, I thank the members of the jury for the effort to make this selection. I want to tell everyone, I have full conviction that this project will begin to materialize as soon as the winner is announced, it will also open that path of future perspective, for people, girls, boys who grow up in the middle of this miracle of nature. They can’t live just sitting around looking at nature”, he emphasized.
