With 77 votes in favor, none against and no abstentions, the Parliament of Albania voted on Thursday the protocol agreement for immigrants Albania-Italy. The agreement for immigrants was finalized on November 6 in Rome by the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, and the prime minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni.

This agreement between the two countries was examined by the Constitutional Court, which, after verification, decided to give it the green light.

Albania will not pay money for the temporary housing of the migrants and Italy will remove each of them immediately after the review of their asylum requests is completed. This is the guarantee given by the Albanian government for the Rama-Meloni agreement, through some details published by the Media and Information Agency.

Italy sets up entirely at its own expense the structures for the stay of immigrants. The maximum number of people who can stay sheltered at the same time is no more than 3 thousand people. Italy bears all expenses for the sheltered immigrants including: any health care costs, any other unforeseen costs that may come to the Albanian side. The maximum period of stay of an immigrant cannot be greater than the time needed for the asylum/protection procedures.
