Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted harshly to the request of the protesters, who demand the resignation of the General Director of the State Police, Ardi Veliu, declaring that they should forget this idea.

The head of government noted that no one can take as a sign of weakness the departure of the former Minister of Interior, adding that blackmail and violence against the police have nothing to do with freedom or democracy.

“They demand the resignation of the General Director of Police, otherwise they will burn and destroy?” Forget it! It is very wrong for anyone to think that the civic behaviour of the interior minister is a weakness and to forget that this state belongs to the citizens, not to the barbarians! Power is taken through voting, not burning!

The State Police will neither be taken hostage, nor will it be shaken by the old policy of violence and by the perpetrators instigated by it! The State Police is not a single policeman who killed, and today is in the hands of justice, and whoever does not respect the law will face the force of law!

We will not allow anyone to demolish what has been built with hard work and the State Police is one of the examples of change, which continues with the hard work of many people every day! Blackmail and violence against the police have nothing to do with freedom or democracy!” PM Rama pointed out./abcnews.al
