Prime Minister Edi Rama started this Thursday with some pictures of the works being done on the Prekal-Kir road in Shkodër. In a social media statement, the Head of Government underlined that this road segment will serve as a new impulse for tourist development.
“GOOD MORNING, and with the works being carried out on the Prekal-Kir road, financed by the Albanian government for the Municipality of Shkodra, as the first segment of the Dukagjini road, to bring a new impetus to tourist and agro-tourism development for an amazing area, I wish you a good day”, declared the PM.
On his part, the Mayor of Shkodra, Benet Beci, says that the construction of this 17 km road is one of his priorities.
“It is one of the priorities we had. It is an area which has suffered from the lack of this road for years. I am very glad that we were able to start it quickly. For me, Dukagjini will be a discovery for Shkodra, for tourism, for economic development and for the entire region. This is the first phase of this investment. There are 17 kilometers of roads, 5 meters wide, with sewers, works of art, bridges and protective walls,” says Beci.
On the other hand, residents are happy about the work being done.
“I am happy to see that it begins to be done. This road will open perspective, it will bring back people who have run away. Either tourism or the various fields of the economy will develop”, said one of the residents of this area.
While another said: “I thank the president because he is the only one who kept his promise and started the implementation before the deadline. I am happy about this work that is being done because it once again awakens the hopes of the people of Dukagina.”
