Prime Minister Edi Rama held this Wednesday a meeting with representatives of the footwear business this Wednesday.
In a social media statement, the head of government said that the discussions have focused on the needs for further transformation of the sector, the support measures that must be taken to overcome development challenges.
Moreover, PM Rama added that the government will increase its commitment to further support this sector to become more productive and competitive with a series of interventions such as rapid VAT refund, guarantees for investments in technology and innovation, financing scheme for the establishment of a professional academy, etc.
“Pyramid of Tirana – In the ‘House of Business’ with the representatives of the association of the material ordering industry , to discuss the needs for the further transformation of the sector, in the example of the leading companies in the sector; the support measures that we will undertake for overcoming the challenges of development; the necessity of understanding by all actors of the sector the fact that the time of free labor as a competitive advantage has ended for some time now and this fact is faced only with investments in technology and innovation, and with decent wages consequently.
The agreed interventions will precisely stimulate transformation and investments in technology and innovation, rapidly supporting the need for liquidity, the need for easy credit, as well as for qualified human resources:
Quick refund of VAT through a dedicated channel for companies in this industry.
Providing a facilitating mechanism (overdraft) for quick availability of liquidity, according to contracts with customers that companies must put into production.
A sovereign guarantee for investment in technology and innovation.
A financing scheme for setting up a professional academy for manufacturing and related trainings in the company.
The government will increase its commitment to further support this sector to close the production cycles itself, as well as to become more productive and competitive by strengthening the “Made in Albania” brand”, stated the Prime Minister.
