Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha at the 107th anniversary of Independence is addressed to fellow citizens with a poignant video message also because of the powerful earthquake that caused severe consequences.
Message from Lulzim Basha
Dear my fellow citizens!
Tuesday morning, as Albanians prepared to commemorate the 107th anniversary of Independence, a terrible earthquake hit our country.
We still do not know the full extent of the damage.
What we know so far is that dozens of Albanians have tragically lost their lives in ruins, hundreds were injured and their homes were destroyed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured people, with those who are suffering and with the families who have experienced the biggest pain of losing their beloved people.
On Independence Day, blood drains from the heart of our nation.
What we experienced in the last days is a reminder to all of us, how fragile human life is.
How grateful we should be for all that God has gave to us, and to embrace our children and our loved ones a little tighter.
During these three days, we have experienced some of the toughest hours of recent years, but we have seen so far the best of our people.
The first people who went under the rubble to look for survivors, doctors and nurses working all the time to treat the injured people, and thousands more have been spared to provide help and contributions to our needy brothers and sisters.
This is the real Albania!
Albania of people with great heart and inexhaustible strength.
Today, instead of the Independence Day, a wounded nation is bowed to the pain of losing lives.
Lets honor the memory of those who this tragedy took, by standing together, strong and loving one another more.
And may their memory be wishes to all who knew them!
God bless you and your families and God bless Albania! /abcnews.al
