Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, filed a defamation lawsuit against the former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, after the latter accused him of ties to Iran and first session with the representation of the two parties was held this Friday.
This session lasted only 20 minutes, where the lawyers of Berisha and Veliaj were introduced to the conciliation session by SPAK, a procedure where the parties who accuse each other are offered the possibility of reconciliation and then the dismissal of the case, but this did not happen.
Berisha was represented by Ivi Kaso and Veliaj by his defense lawyer, considering that if Berisha was not represented today, the Prosecutor’s Office would escort him by force.
However, the next session will be held on June 2.
