The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, emphasized that the implementation of the national plan “Safe Stay in Albania” has started to guarantee a tourist season. Present at the “Safe roads, safe tourism” conference, the minister said: “We expect to have an increase compared to the historical year of 2023 to 40 percent of foreign visitors.
The Ministry of the Interior through the state police, the fire service and the rescue service related to this service in all the municipalities of the country. We have started the implementation of the national plan “Safe Stay in Albania” to guarantee a safe season for every vacationer, to reconfirm this year our certification as a tourist destination with impressive security.
The geographical position has made our roads not only national roads, but almost all the corridors are European and this is another added challenge in terms of increasing the flow of use of Albanian roads,” said Balla.
He also emphasized that 6 additional police stations are ready for the tourist season. Further, he announced that efforts are being made to facilitate the procedures for crossing the border points with Kosovo.
“As a minister, I often receive complaints from the public about fines, but I can confirm today that in all verified cases it turns out that there was a violation. There is a need for great awareness of the drivers that there is no chance that they will not see you or follow you with radars, or take pictures.
We are not ready, I would have liked to be ready with the Smart City project, but I am very proud that thanks to the support of the Prime Minister and the government of the United Arab Emirates, in all the main cities, we will have hopefully next year the part related to with public safety and protection of private life, traffic monitoring through an all-inclusive system, technological solution and AI that enables us to move to another level of public safety.
Let’s come up with intelligent solutions.
To return to what brought us together today, such as road safety, I want to inform that we have addressed the concern that often arises, which is related to long queues at border points, the implementation of the protocol to facilitate procedures in Morinë-Kukës, and I believe that next week we will facilitate the ease of crossing at other points of the border crossing with Kosovo to enable free crossing of the border for all tourists, whether they are Albanians from Kosovo or from Albania who want to go to Kosovo .
We now have almost 6 additional state police stations in areas with increased tourist flow, Theth, Valbona, etc.”, added Balla./abcnews.al
