Mother, daughter prosecuted for trying to smuggle EUR 40,000 through Rinas

Rinas Police has seized 40,000 euros in the airport checks, while the mother and daughter who tried to cross the border were prosecuted in connection with the incident.

The police informs that the large amount of money was hidden in the body of the two citizens, while the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, where the proceedings began in free status for the citizens S. S., 66 years old, and E. K., 43 years old (mother and daughter), both resident in Tirana, after during the physical checks, the Police services found each of them, 20,000 euros hidden in their body, for the purpose of not declaring in accordance with the laws in force.

Afterwards, the procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, for further actions.



Furthermore, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, where the proceedings started in a free state for the citizen M.H., 35 years old, resident in Diber, since during the procedures at Rinas airport, while traveling with her 16-year-old son, she presented a document (notarial declaration) suspected of being forged.

“Rinas Border Police Services, as a result of intensified entry/exit controls, to ensure the free and safe movement of citizens, have found and dealt with 2 cases of illegalities at the border, for which:

– the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, where the proceedings were initiated in a free state for citizens S. S., 66 years old and E. K., 43 years old (mother and daughter), both living in Tirana, since during the physical checks, the Police services found each of them, 20,000 euros hidden in the body, for the purpose of not declaring in accordance with the laws in force;

– the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, where the proceedings were initiated in a free state for the citizen M. H., 35 years old, resident in Dibër, since during the procedures at Rinas airport, while traveling with her 16-year-old son, she presented a document (notarial declaration) suspected to be forged”, informed the law enforcement.
