President Ilir Meta this Saturday participated in the “Thank you Albania” Solemn Academy, organized by the Diocese of Prizren-Pristina.
This is an activity to thank Albanians for the solidarity, hospitality and brotherly love offered to Kosovo Albanians who were forcibly moved from their lands by the Slobodan Milošević regime during the Kosovo War.
In his speech, President Meta said that 1999 was an extraordinary year in the history of the Balkans, but especially in our country.
“We are happy to remember 1999, an extraordinary year in the history of the Balkans but especially in our country. A year of trial, an affirmative or destructive test for a country and a nation.
In his speech, among other things, President Ilir Meta stated that the people of Kosovo have gone through difficult times, where only a nation endangered in its existence can react in that extraordinary way and triumph.
“20 years have passed and we are really much better than 20 years ago but we are not as happy as we would like to be.
We need to be more attentive for the future to see what we can do better.
Remember how the road from Kukës to Tirana was. Those who made that road know what happened thanks to ‘The Road of the Nation’, which has created an incredible closeness, which we must use even better for the future.
Our concern is to work and to keep young people here. This is our biggest challenge ”, stated Meta./abcnews.al
