The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, is participating in the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women that is conducting its work at the United Nations Organization in New York.
During her speech at the UN, Minister Manastirliu emphasized the progress that Albania has made in relation to the empowerment of women and girls and the expansion of digital services, as a tool that has increased access to public services.
Albania has made progress in terms of digital services. More than 1220 services are accessed through the e-Albania platform; there are more than 2.7 million users, 53% of whom are women, that s hows how much digital services have improved and increased access to services and how many women benefit from digital services, without bureaucracy and that have made it possible to improve the status of women and girls in society”, emphasized Manastirliu.
Speaking about the further extension of online services, the Minister of Health and Social Protection stated that: “Either in terms of sectoral strategies and even in the umbrella of the strategy for development and European integration, just approved by the Council of Ministers, a special focus on the extension of digital services, in order to increase access to public services, which is directly related to the economic empowerment of women and support in terms of empowerment programs in agriculture, those of support in health or social services, but also in other public services, an important focus has been placed on expanding the base of online services, as an important tool for reducing barriers, for creating equal opportunities for all and above all for the economic and social empowerment of women and our daughters”.
The 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women is being held at the United Nations in New York, with high representatives of member states, UN organizations and various organizations from around the world, to exchange experiences on access to public services and the creation of an appropriate environment for the promotion of gender equality. This year’s session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) is focused on innovation, technological changes, education in the digital age towards achieving gender equality and strengthening the role of women and girls in society.
