“Metropol” shopping center in the city of Lushnja was engulfed in flames on Monday, and it took the firefighters about ten hours to extinguish the flames.
Firefighters and other rescue teams fought the flames for about ten hours, making it possible to extinguish them and evacuate the citizens, who had remained isolated in the center as a result of the flames and smoke.
A large number of firefighters from Fier District, Tirana, Durrës, Vlorë, Elbasan and Berat went to help. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.
The shopping center was located between two 12-story buildings, the upper floors of which functioned as residential apartments.
