Enkelejd Alibeaj held a meeting with democratic intellectuals today. The topic of discussion at this meeting was the new law on opening insurance files, which was approved in parliament last Thursday.
Alibeaj said that the PD parliamentary group has started preparing amendments for the opening of files since June of this year, while he said that this issue has always been pending in Albanian politics.
In his speech, he said that the files will be opened to inform the public, stressing that the truth should not be misused in any way.
The amended law provides for the opening of all files of the former Security and the declassification of all documents from November 29, 1944 to July 2, 1991.
It also foresees the re-verification of the figure of those persons for whom new information emerges, even when they have passed through the sieve of previous parliamentary commissions, with the aim of removing former Security spies from politics and public positions.
