Border Crossing Point (BCP) of Kakavija will remain shut down November 24 at 07:00 until November 25 at 07:00 local time in Greece, because the employees of the Hellenic side will hold a protest, the Local Local Directorate of Border and Migration in Gjirokastra announced Monday.
Vehicles such as motorcycles, cars, vans transporting citizens and trucks transporting goods will not be allowed to pass in this time frame. Such a decision has come after the employees demanded salary increases, payment of overtime as well as fulfillment of working conditions.
However, exceptions from this measure will be made only for pedestrians, trucks transporting foodstuffs stored in refrigerated conditions, trucks transporting live animals and vehicles for health emergencies or deaths.
“Greek police authorities, based on an official notification sent to the Kakavije Border Police, clarify that due to the strike that will take place by Greek customs employees, there will be a work stoppage, starting from tomorrow, on November 24, local Greek time 07:00 to 07:00 on November 25.
We clarify that during this time frame, both at the entrance and exit of the Greek customs, the passage of vehicles such as motorcycles, cars, vans transporting citizens and trucks transporting goods will not be allowed.
Kakavija Border Police calls on all citizens who want to travel to Greece, to avoid traveling towards this crossing point during this time frame”, revealed the Local Border and Migration Directorate of Gjirokastra./abcnews.al
