The Supreme Court is expected to consider today the request of the family members for the 4 murders on the boulevard on January 21.
More specifically, the panel composed of judges Ilir Panda, Sokol Binaj and Sander Simoni, will consider the request of Aleks Nika’s family members, who request that the investigations be carried out by SPAK and not by the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana.
A day ago, the family members of Aleks Nika asked the high court that the investigation into the January 21 murder be transferred to the special prosecutor’s office.
Today, the members of the court will hear in the session the family members of Nika who claim that the murder of their relative is a criminal offense and should be investigated by the public prosecutor and on the other hand by the special prosecutor’s office that delegated the report of the family members to the prosecutor’s office in Tirana for investigations with the argument that they are not competent.
Through a letter, the wife of Aleks Nika, Rajmonda Nika, says that they have a microcassette where the orders of the leaders of the Guard to shoot at the protesters were recorded. Likewise, the letter states that the Strasbourg court has deemed the murder of the protesters unsolved and at the same time a series of evidences were hidden by high officials of the time, including former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and former Interior Minister Lulzim Basha. that, according to the family members, should be interrogated by SPAK.
The case for the murder of Aleks Nika has been investigated for 2 years by the Tirana prosecutor’s office, which has not yet come to a conclusion about the authorship of the crime. Aleks Nika was killed in the protest of January 21, 2011 on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, along with 3 other protesters.
