The 51st Interpol regional conference for Europe takes place this Tuesday. The International Criminal Police Organization gathers in Tirana about 200 representatives from the law enforcement agencies of European countries.

At the start of this conference, a minute of silence was held in honor of the policemen who lost their lives in the line of duty. During his speech, Interior Minister Taulant Balla said that Albania is a trusted partner of Interpol and that it is also committed to the fight against crime.

“I hope you enjoy all the beauties and cultural heritage in Albania. Guests who may have visited Albania 20-30 years ago, I’m sure are amazed by the changes the country has undergone.

Our “Mother Teresa” airport has more than 200 flights per day. I am grateful to the executive committee that made it possible to hold this event in Tirana, the first of its size. Since the opening of the central office of Interpol, Albania, together with the Interpol mission, has been strengthened.

We confirm that Albania is a dedicated and trusted partner. Today we have many challenges in the field of security.. Organized crime, cyber crimes require a quick coordination and response. “Synthetic drugs are the number one killer,” said Balla.
