Interior Minister, Taulant Balla has reacted this Tuesday regarding the action carried out on Monday by order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK), where arrest warrants were issued for the former director of Tirana Police and 10 other people, while the son has been declared wanted.
Through a post on social networks, Balla stated that a complex operation to attack organized crime, involved in crimes against the person and the distribution of narcotics, was finalized.
Among other things, Balla emphasized that exponents of organized crime, officials and former officials of the State Police as well as other people collaborating with them have fallen into the network of this cooperation.
“Yesterday afternoon and during the night, the State Police finalized a complex operation to attack organized crime involving crimes against the person and the distribution of narcotics, a concrete result of professional investigations under the direction of the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Corruption and Organized Crime.
I congratulate the leaders and participants of the State Police in this operation, for their high professionalism and above all for the complete security of sensitive information until the finalization of the operation that led to the arrest of all persons located in Albania. While the work continues to find and arrest other persons who are outside the territory of Albania.
I take the opportunity to thank and congratulate the prosecutors for their trust and cooperation. Exponents of organized crime, officials and former officials of the State Police, as well as other persons collaborating with them, have fallen into the net of this cooperation.
This significant operation is the consolidation of raising to another level the will of our law enforcement agencies to attack crime in its entire spectrum, in function of legal order throughout the territory.
Today I have the opportunity to reaffirm my full belief that the strengthening of cooperation between law-enforcement agencies and the joint struggle in the self-purification of the State Police will take Albania to another level of the rule of law”, wrote Balla on Facebook.
