Imprisoned Himara mayor’s file sent for adjudication to Special Court

Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has closed the investigations and sent this Tuesday the file of mayor of Himara elected in May 14 polls, Fredi Beleri, to the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO).

Beleri was arrested just two days before the local elections after he was caught buying votes.   He has been behind bars for several months as he is accused of active corruption in the elections.

Pandeli Kokaveshi is also accused of the same criminal charge.

“From the one-by-one and unified analysis of the evidence administered during the investigation, such as the data obtained from the audio/video interceptions, from the telephone examinations, from the examinations of the computer expertise acts, from the statements of the persons who have knowledge of the crime. criminal etc., it turns out that it is proven beyond any reasonable doubt that the defendant Dhionisios Alfred Beleri offered the citizen Arsen Rama the monetary sum of 50 euros for every person Arseni would find, who would vote for Beleri as a candidate for Mayor Himare, in the local elections of 14.05.2023, while Arsen Rama himself has promised the citizens 300 euros as a reward for the service he would perform.

The defendant Dhionisios Alfred Beleri gave the monetary sums to Arsen through the other defendant Pandeli Kokaveshi, who was his accomplice in committing this corrupt act and the latter gave the citizen Arsen Rama eight 5,000 ALL banknotes for eight people who would vote in favor of citizen Dhionisios Alfred Beleri.

In the specific case, the defendants have committed the criminal offense with active illegal actions in two forms, such as by promising and offering sums of money to citizen Arsen Rama so that the latter could influence the will of other citizens to secure votes in in favor of the defendant Dhionisios Alfred Beleri in the local elections of 14.05.2023”, as quoted from the announcement of SPAK.
