Albanian government has approved the salary increase for some sectors, specifically in health, education and in the field of security.

The Minister of Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, said that the government made the decision to increase the salaries of support employees of the public administration. “We approved an important draft law, specifically for the determination of salaries. Today we started and approved several draft decisions for salary increases for the health, education and security sectors, specifically for prison police, guards and firefighters. Pursuant to the decision taken earlier, from April 1, the salaries of public administration support workers will also increase,” said Ibrahimaj.

ABC News journalist, Esiona Konomi, asked the minister where this money will be taken to support the reform for salary increases, for this the minister said: “The annual cost, in 2025, of this reform is at the level of 38 billion ALL. These funds are provided either from the increase in income or from internal reallocations. They are costs that are borne within the macro fiscal system.

We will continue to reduce the debt and the deficit. For 2023, we had foreseen salary increase policy and it was worth 2.4 billion ALL that affected education, health and the field of IT. The salary increase also comes as a result of the inflationary crisis, so there are several items provided in the budget that accommodate the salary increase and the additional cost expected for this year”, said Ibrahimaj.
