SPAK has already launched an extensive investigation into the activity of 13 “Call Center” companies in Tirana as it is suspected that they have deceived a large number of citizens of the European Union through false promises to enrich them if they would invest on stock exchanges.
Journalist Ermal Vija informs abcnews.al that in the framework of this investigation, the prosecution has asked commercial banks in Albania to enable the transactions of the companies in question during the last two years to make the relevant verifications.
There is evidence that this is a fraud worth tens of millions of Euros, which citizens of EU countries have sent to the offshore accounts of “Call Centers” based in Albania, believing that they were investing in stock exchanges; forex or in virtual currencies.
This activity has expanded greatly in recent years and it is thought that it is about thousands of people deceived by Albanian operators of “Call Centers”, who were introduced as representatives of well-known brokerage companies based in Italy or elsewhere for increase reliability.
After “fishing” them, the “Call Center” operators asked their victims to increase their investment capital with the promise that this way they would earn even more money.
Initially, it was Germany and the Netherlands that expressed concern about this practice, while there are data that “Call Centers” have followed the path with citizens of other countries such as Italy; England; Canada, etc./abcnews.al
