Thousands of materials belonging to the Central Archive of the Armed Forces will be part of the Central State Archive. The work has already started and is expected to be completed by January 1, 2025. The Minister of Defense, Mr. Pirro Vengu, accompanied by the General Director of the Central State Archive, Mr. Ardit Bido, visited the premises of the FA Archive, where they became closely acquainted with the work processes and challenges of the digital transformation of the FA Central Archive.
The funds of the Central Archive of the Armed Forces best show how the effort to create, strengthen and maintain the Armed Forces has been a challenge that has accompanied all phases of our nation-building. This Archive has been enriched over the decades by several important funds and continues to be enriched day by day.
The integration of the FA Central Archive into the State Central Archive is a good opportunity to improve accessibility, digitization and even wider openness for security researchers and experts.
Meanwhile, the work continues for the processing of several linear kilometers of archival material, still not processed by the existing funds. The Albanian government will finance the construction of a building dedicated to this precious national asset, near the archival complex, with contemporary conditions for the next 100 years.
