The Head of the Republican Party met with Ambassador Glover and the representatives of ODIHR who lead the election observation mission in Albania.

In response to Ms. Glover’s request to learn about the election situation in Albania, Mr. Mediu points out that:

1. Due to the lack of political will, the electoral reform before the May 14 local elections was interrupted and failed, although important drafts were proposed in time for discussion and decision-making by many political and civil factors.

2. The association of the Socialist Party with the state and the use of the state and the public administration for elections is blatant by exerting pressure to vote the majority, accompanied by the withdrawal of identity cards or vote buying.
3. The use of the “activist” application is also in violation of the law as a continuation of the practice of “patronage” already denounced by OSCE/ODIHR in recent elections.
4. Abusive use of budget funds for electoral campaign for raising salaries or salaries for electoral purposes.
5-Moving voters to different centers before the elections, creating confusion among voters.
6-Control over the media and public spaces for campaign propaganda where every private public space is blocked by the government.
7-Almost doubling the number of employees abusively in municipalities and state institutions for electoral campaign.
8- Obstructing, by order from the relevant Ministries, pedagogues and educators to run for municipal councils in violation of the constitution.
The media ask Ambassador Glover for a greater presence of them in the monitoring and with a greater concentration in the most problematic electoral areas such as Elbasani, Durresi, Tirana, Shkodra.
