Former director of ART Thoma Gëllçi was sentenced by GJKKO to two years in prison, due to an abuse of the tender for RTSH(albanian radio television). Gëllçi benefits from the shortened trial, thus reducing his sentence to 1 year and 4 months. Also, he should not hold any public office for the next 5 years.
Meanwhile, the other three accused for the criminal offense of “violation of equality in tenders”, Julian Tapia, Ervin Muraj and Alban Malaveci, were sentenced to one year in prison each.
Thoma Gëllçi and three employees were arrested by SPAK after it is suspected that he had committed legal violations in this procurement procedure, for the purchase of materials for the opening of the RTSH Agro channel. Thoma Gëllçi during his testimony before the prosecutors clarified that he has extended the contract with the company, underlining the fact that it is a procedure provided by the procurement law.
He has categorically denied that he was abused with the fund of about 87 million ALL for the opening of the RTSH Agro channel. RTSH officials were arrested at the beginning of October last year, after the denunciation made by the companies disqualified in the tender.
