Former PM Berisha accuses the government for the increase of prices

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha says the energy crisis in Albania is not related to the weather and the war in Ukraine. At the Democratic Party headquarters,  Berisha said that the crisis comes from mismanagement, theft and robbery. Berisha makes the government responsible for this situation, while condemning the price increase.

Berisha also recalls that Albania is the only country in Europe that taxes oil over 1 euro, produces over 1 million tons and has the highest prices.

“Albania is not an island. However, in terms of energy and production, Albania is the country that should feel less than any other country the impact on the energy of the continent of Russian aggression on Ukraine. Its energy is 98% entirely hydropower, but it is produced at a lower cost than in any other country.

Energy production in Albania during 2021 is the highest in the historical record, about 8.9 billion kW. Given these factors and if we analyze the attitude in the management of the cascade water reservoir easily finds that the root cause of the crisis is not the weather, war, but is robbery, robbery, theft in these enterprises.

“At the root of this crisis is the irresponsible attitude of this government,” said the former prime minister.
