Three fishermen have been rescued in the early hours of this Wednesday morning after they were left in the open sea, after the vehicle they were sailing with was damaged as a result of the collision of a Bari ferry on the coast of Durres.
Fishermen have been identified as Klajdi Kapxhiu, Selim Agasi and Muhamed, an Egyptian citizen. Fortunately, they were brought ashore by marine police forces and are reported to be in good health.
According to the police, the vessel of the border police of Durrës arrived on time and saved the citizens who were in the water from drowning, after the motor fishing boat had sunk in the sea.
In the meantime, the investigative group, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office, are working on clarifying the circumstances of this event.
“Around 00:05, QNOD notified the Border Police of the port of Durrës, that 3 citizens who were in a motorized fishing boat, asked for help, as they were in danger of drowning in the sea.
The Border Police with a boat, the GDF and the coast guard immediately went to their aid. The vessel of the Border Police of the port of Durrës arrived on time and saved the citizens who were in the water from drowning, after their motor fishing boat had sunk in the sea.
The employees of the Border Police took the captain, citizen S.A., 54 years old, and the members of the board, citizens K.K., 30 years old and M.E., 50 years old, in the Police boat, who were immediately transported to the Durrës Regional Hospital for medical assistance and are out of danger to life.
From the first actions, it is suspected that the fishing boat was hit by a ferry, which suspended the navigation”, informed the law enforcement.
