General Directorate of Prisons has reacted regarding this Thursday’s death of inmate Simon Hashim Toska in Fier correctional facility. According to the released information, Toska previously did not present any health problems, and was not treated with any type of medication.
On Wedneday, the prisoner initially showed fatigue, but his condition stabilized after receiving medical help. In the early hours of Thursday morning, the prisoner felt bad and after receiving medical aid from the nurses and doctors of the prison, he was sent to the Fier Hospital, where he died.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Prisons expressed condolences to the family and relatives for the loss of their loved one.
“General Directorate of Prisons, informs the public opinion that on 04.05.2023, around 04:00 in the Fier Regional Hospital, the citizen Simon Hashim Toska, born on 04.15.1972, accused of committing the criminal offense “Production and sale of narcotics” provided by article (283/2) of the Criminal Code.
– Citizen Simon Hashim Toska, born on 15.04.1972, was admitted to IEVP Fier with a security measure of arrest and imprisonment, on 13.08.2021 and after the health visit, he was provided with clinical card number 4253.
– From the moment of admission, this citizen consulted with the institution’s doctors, where he did not refer to acute clinical complaints. During his stay in the institution, he did not present clinical complaints and did not receive treatment with medications for chronic pathology.
– On 03.05.2023, around 12:00, citizen SimonToska referred to fatigue and physical weakness. Arterial pressure 100/70 mm Hg, arterial pulse normal. Under these conditions, he was given a perfusion, where he then reported that he felt well and was in a stable condition, he did not report any clinical complaints.
– On 04.05.2023 at 03:25 while patrolling the sector, the police officer on duty announces on the radio to the health service workers on duty that the detainee Simon Hashim Toska has breathing problems.
After the announcement at around 03:30 the nurses of the service together with the security group go to the room of the citizen Simon Toska, in the detention building. This citizen referred to problems, breathing difficulties, arterial pressure 90/60 mm Hg.
He was immediately given first aid, the medication (1 ampoule) prednisolone was applied and he was recommended to be sent to the emergency room of the Fier Regional Hospital.
– At 03:34 this citizen went to the emergency room of Fier Hospital, where he was also assisted with cardiac massage on the way. In the emergency room of the Fier Regional Hospital, he was given medical assistance (cardioversion shock), asystole was detected in the EKG.
Despite all the medical assistance that was given to this citizen, the doctors of the Fier Hospital concluded that the citizen Simon Toska had exitus lethalis (death)”, announced the authorities.
